The Windows Phone 8.1 Action Center was shown off, the new swipe-down notification and settings pane that can be accessed fromnearly anywhere in the OS - very similar of course, to the original implementation Android had pioneered. In fact, we may have seen more credible leaked features over the past few months, than the number of features Microsoft chose to unveil on Wednesday. Windows Phone 8.1 will be arriving in new smartphones as early as late-April and early-May, and rolling out to compatible phones 'in the coming months'. Swype is an excellent app that manages to combine coolness and utility.Microsoft's keynote address at the Build 2014 conference saw the unveiling of the Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update operating system versions. There are extensive Swype configuration options, and it’s worth taking a look so you can change languages, enable and disable advanced settings and tweak the speed/accuracy ratio.

Obviously, you use it wherever you write on your phone – emails, SMS, any apps you write in – and once you have enabled it, it will kick in automatically. Once you have completed the Swype tutorial, you just need to get practicing by using the app.

Swype has excellent help, and the 'getting started' tutorial is highly recommended, as it will show you how to add "advanced" characters like double letters, punctuation and new words.
